NYPD - CBS Technologies' latest advanced project was the implementation of a 4500 line Nortel Networks Option 81C at NYPD One Police Plaza . After September 11 th One Police Plaza had lost over 70% of their communications facilities. In a combination of the location of the Central Office's for Telco service, combined with the 1970's Technologies that was in place for their communications equipment, the NYPD initiated a very expedient bid process for a new PBX for the largest Police Facility in the World. CBS Technologies was awarded the contract after NYPD reviewed over 20 bids from different vendors including Verizon, Nextira, Lucent and NEC. CBS Technologies was selected because of its excellent service reputation and its competitive pricing. The installation included 36 ISDN PRI T-1 Circuits, the Option 81C, 4000 Telephones, a 300 Line Option 11C at 51 Chambers Street , a backup 911 system and the complete training of all staff at the facility. CBS Technologies also recabled the entire 18 floor faciltiy at 1 Police Plaza with new voice and data cable as well as all new riser cable. All NYPD precincts are also maintained by CBS Technologies throughout New York City .

Department of Homeland Security - After the tragic events of September 11, 2001 CBS Technologies has been very active in the continuing disaster recovery effort in the New York City area. The Office Of Homeland Security (ICE) that used to reside at 6 World Trade Center has chosen CBS Technologies to establish new sites in three separate locations in New York City . The installation of two Nortel Networks Option 11C PBX's, and One Mitel Networks SX 2000 PBX, totaling over 1000 lines, took place expeditiously and permitted the US Customs personnel to continue their counter terrorism activity without interruption. The systems have grown in size to well over 2000 lines with the addition of video and data solutions.
top ________________________________________________________________________________ New School University , founded in 1919 as the New School For Social Research, is comprised of The New School, Milano Graduate School , Eugene Lang College , Culinary Arts Center , Mannes College of Music and Parsons Fashion Design Center . These schools are located in 13 buildings throughout New York City . After an extensive bidding process through an RFP designed by their consultant, CBS Technologies was awarded a multi-million dollar contract for a Mitel SX2000 Light PBX system. Two sites are known as the "host sites" which network via T-1's to the remote node sites. These host sites encompass a Mitel 64 port voice mail system with 48 ports being utilized for messaging and a robust ACD (automatic call distribution) with a full reporting package for over 60 agents. The campus has over 2000 telephone locations which are primarily the Mitel 4025 digital sets. New School also uses Mitel's speech recognition software which allows the outside caller to simply say the persons name or department and promptly reach that person.
   One of the remote node sites has the Mitel IP 3300 system which allows New School access to the Mitel Teleworker Solution, Your Assistant Solution, and Video Conferencing Solution to name a few.
CBS Technologies has designed New School 's network for inbound and outbound traffic consisting of 17 T-1's and 15 PRI's. The IP 3300 allows for any future IP connection to anywhere in the world. CBS has equipped the two host sites with redundant central processors. This allows the two sites to operate in a "hot standby mode" and all the calls in process are unaffected by the traffic from other processors.
CBS Technologies also established a feature called Malicious Call trace which allows the school to log a suspicious call such as a bomb threat, for easy tracking by the police department. The school also has a robust call accounting system for the entire network that allows for a multidimensional reporting package which utilizes account codes. Also installed is a UPS system at each site which will give a minimum of 48 hours battery back up time to each site. With the help of Mitel's OPS MAN New School on site presently can make their own adds, moves and changes which will filter down to every other site on the network. Programming done at one site covers all.

Holtzbrinck Publishing, one of the largest publishing houses in NYC (located in the Flatiron Building) has been a loyal and dedicated client of CBS Technologies since 1978. CBS Technologies has updated Holtzbrinck twice, once back in 1997 to a Mitel 2000 switch and again in 2005 with an upgrade to add more than 300 telephones. Most recently they were renovating their space (18 Floors) and CBS was called in to do their structured cabling back to a new main frame and move their phone system. All of which were accomplished without interruption of service. This included a fiber and copper backbone to all floors with approximately 1200 dual category 6 cables for their voice and data. Our Project Management team coordinated with the General Manager on the job along with other trades. The time frame for this project was very aggressive (about 8 months). But with our skilled Project Management & Installation Team we had no problem completing this project on time.
